A first date by the seaside, what could be more romantic? The white sands,  the softly crashing waves but where are these secluded magical places…well look no further if you want to wow and woo than here, we’ve got the lot.

Let’s start with Seacliff beach, just a few miles east of North Berwick, a truly stunning and unexpected jewel. I’d even go as far to say that it is guaranteed to set hearts a flutter. Just don’t forget £3 for the barrier, Seacliff is a private beach, with woodland walks, ruined buildings to explore (safely of course) and Britain’s smallest harbour. All top secret of course, so don’t tell anyone.

Perhaps the briny sea air is not enough to win impress your beau, well then pack a picnic and head to Yellowcraig with its spectacular views to the 1885 lighthouse on Fidra island and the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. Car parking charges apply here to so be prepared and there is also a barbecue site(pre-book with the council).

Maybe a different view is required, let’s take to the high seas for a great (first) day out with a difference. Contact Braveheart Tours on 07967 877383, Braveheart is run by 2 local skippers, characters who are knowledgeable about the local wildlife, geology, history, sit back and enjoy.

For blow your socks off romantic head to Tantallon Castle. Climb to the battlements of the last of the grand medieval castles and marvel at its scale. Set high on a cliff edge and featuring a massive red sandstone curtain wall, the best example of castle architecture from the 1300s anywhere in Scotland.

SEE YOU SOON!
