Golf

Could there be a better destination for golf?  North Berwick features three fantastic course and East Lothian has a further 19 courses offering choice to golfers of all standards.

North Berwick West Links offers a unique golfing experience, and poses a true challenge for even the most proficient golfer. In addition to being an Open qualifying venue it is one of the best and most scenic links courses in Scotland. It is a true links course steeped in history, with traditional revetted bunkers, blind holes, drives over walls and burns together with magnificent views towards the sea. The course is sprinkled with top-notch holes and rewards strategy and guile rather than power hitting.

The Glen Golf Club combines inland turf with a seaside setting and is one of the most popular of East Lothian golf courses. The course provides an enjoyable test of golf for all levels of player. Every hole offers the golfer a different perspective of the Firth of Forth, with views dominated by the Bass Rock. Elevated tees and greens across the course mean that careful club selection, consistency and confidence in iron play are vital.

Situated two miles south of North Berwick, Whitekirk Golf Club has a links feel, but your golf is played on rich, fertile, grassy fairways. The clubhouse combines tradition, refined décor, a warm welcome and quality service. The course was cleverly designed by Cameron Sinclair who used the natural water hazards and undulating terrain to produce an enjoyable challenge for all levels of golfer. Many of the tees are elevated to make the most of the idyllic views across East Lothian. Despite only opening in 1995, the golf course has already earned championship status, previously hosting a PGA Mastercard Tour and Sky PGA Europro Tour events.

You may also recognise many of the other courses throughout East Lothian particularly GullaneDunbarMusselburgh OldArcherfield and The Open Championship course at Muirfield. These are some of the world’s oldest and most admired golf courses offering traditional links and classic inland layouts.
